Helping our area K-12 students explore career paths right here in our own backyard is the key focus of our Business Education Partnership program.  The DCDC’s goal is to increase awareness of jobs available in the area as well as the skill sets and education needed to obtain those jobs.  Activities implemented to achieve this goal include:

  • Facilitating partnerships with area school teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators with area employers
  • Organizing career awareness events for area high school students including career fairs, job shadows, workplace tours, and classroom speakers
  • Facilitating opportunities for students to learn about area employer workforce needs
  • Offering teacher externships to create awareness of today’s business needs that can be brought back into the classroom
  • Recognizing and matching employers and education in new or expanded partnerships
